Waste Education Coordinator

Fixed Term – Part time, 64 hours per fortnight (eight day fortnight)
Three and half (3.5) year term contract

Do you have an enthusiasm for community engagement and sustainability education? We are looking for an experienced individual to develop and implement and manage waste education and community engagement programs across the Greater Bunbury Region. The position will have you working closely with schools, local government officers, waste industry stakeholders, community groups, and the general public on raising awareness about issues such as waste minimisation, recycling, graffiti and litter prevention.  Key responsibilities will include project planning and management, applying for grants, supervision of waste education officer(s) and reporting to project stakeholders.

You will have proven self-management skills, experience in implementation of community behaviour change programs and a demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning and community development. A passion and understanding of contemporary waste management and sustainability issues and sound knowledge of the WA school curriculum will be highly regarded.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Employees 2016 Enterprise Agreement and the Local Government Industry Award 2010, with a Level 8.1 salary of $66,885 gross per annum and up to 9.5% superannuation. Request for Tender: Sale of Landfill Compactor – Tender No: RFT1617-0002

The Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council is currently seeking tenders for the purchase of Bomag BC772EB Landfill Compactor with approximately 13,720 hours located at the Stanley Road Waste Management Facility in Australind (Wellesley).

Tender responses may be lodged by hand to the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Administration Office, Old Railway Station Complex (Next to the City of Bunbury Visitor Centre), 5 Carmody Place, Bunbury WA 6230, and must be lodged in time to allow delivery to the tender box by the allotted time or email submission to mpieterse@bunbury.wa.gov.au

Tenders close at: 12:00pm Thursday 13 October 2016.

COMPOST FACILITY PLANT OPERATOR

An opportunity exists at the Wellington Group of Councils for a Compost Facility Plant Operator.  This position is member of a customer focused team at our Banksia Road Organic Processing Facility in Dardanup.  We require an energetic person to carry out the day to day operations within the facility with a high level of enthusiasm to drive the waste, recycling and reuse programmes implemented at this facility.

The ideal applicant will have relevant skills and experience in the waste management industry and in particular organic receiving and processing operations. Good communication/customer focus skills are essential and also a WA (HR) Class Licence, Frontend Loader experience and WA Police Clearance are required. The following skills and qualifications would also be desirable – Fork Lift Ticket, Heavy Plant Operator experience and Computer literate. Successful applicant is required to undergo Pre-Medical Screening that also includes a Drug and Alcohol test.

The Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council is currently seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Suppliers to supply and deliver of one Landfill Compactor for the Stanley Road Waste Management Facility and the trade-in or outright purchase or the existing Bomag BC772EB Landfill Compactor with approximately 13,720 hours, included as part of this request.
