Public Notice – Proposed Standing Orders Local Law 2017

Proposed Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017

The Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council has resolved to advertise its intention to make the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017.

The purpose and affect of this local law are:

Purpose:         This local law provides rules which apply to the conduct of meetings of the Council and its committees and all meetings are to be conducted in accordance with the Act, the Regulations and this local law.

The effect of this local law is to manage:

  • Better decision-making by the Council;
  • Orderly and efficient conduct of meeting dealing with Council business;
  • Greater community participation and understanding of the business of the Council; and
  • More open and accountable local government.

Copies of the proposed Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017 may be inspected at the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Administration Office located at Lot 5 Carmody Place, Next to the City of Bunbury Visitor Centre, Bunbury WA 6230, during office hours; or by downloading and viewing the document from our website.Submissions in relation to the proposed Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017 may be made prior to Thursday, 13 April 2017 to:

Waste Education Coordinator

Fixed Term – Part time, 64 hours per fortnight (eight day fortnight)

Do you have an enthusiasm for community engagement and sustainability education? We are looking for an experienced individual to develop and implement and manage waste education and community engagement programs across the Greater Bunbury Region. The position will have you working closely with schools, local government officers, waste industry stakeholders, community groups, and the general public on raising awareness about issues such as waste minimisation, recycling, graffiti and litter prevention.  Key responsibilities will include project planning and management, applying for grants, supervision of waste education officer(s) and reporting to project stakeholders.

You will have proven self-management skills, experience in implementation of community behaviour change programs and a demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning and community development. A passion and understanding of contemporary waste management and sustainability issues and sound knowledge of the WA school curriculum will be highly regarded.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Employees 2016 Enterprise Agreement and the Local Government Industry Award 2010, with a Level 8.1 salary of $66,885 gross per annum and up to 9.5% superannuation. COMPOST FACILITY PLANT OPERATOR

An opportunity exists at the Wellington Group of Councils for a Compost Facility Plant Operator.  This position is member of a customer focused team at our Banksia Road Organic Processing Facility in Dardanup.  We require an energetic person to carry out the day to day operations within the facility with a high level of enthusiasm to drive the waste, recycling and reuse programmes implemented at this facility.

The ideal applicant will have relevant skills and experience in the waste management industry and in particular organic receiving and processing operations. Good communication/customer focus skills are essential and also a WA (HR) Class Licence, Frontend Loader experience and WA Police Clearance are required. The following skills and qualifications would also be desirable – Fork Lift Ticket, Heavy Plant Operator experience and Computer literate. Successful applicant is required to undergo Pre-Medical Screening that also includes a Drug and Alcohol test.
