Waste Education Officer

Do you have an enthusiasm for community engagement and sustainability education? We are looking for an experienced individual to implement waste education and community engagement programs across the Greater Bunbury Region. The position will have you working closely with schools, local government officers, waste industry stakeholders, community groups, and the general public on raising awareness about issues such as waste minimisation, recycling and litter prevention. Key responsibilities will include developing and delivering educational programs for schools and community groups, promotional activities, project planning and reporting to project stakeholders.

You will have proven self management skills, experience in the preparation and production of educational materials and static displays and appropriate tertiary qualifications. Knowledge of the WA school curriculum and a passion and understanding of contemporary waste management and sustainability issues will be highly regarded. Experience in behaviour change

Your strong communication and organisational skills will be rewarded with this great opportunity to gain a varied experience within local government.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Employees 2016 Enterprise Agreement and the Local Government Industry Award 2010, with a Level 7 increment (7.1) salary of $64,369 gross per annum working 64 hours per fortnight Monday to Thursday and up to 9.5% superannuation.

Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017

In accordance with s3.12(6) of the Local Government Act 1995 the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council gives notice that on Wednesday 10 May 2017 the Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017 was published in the WA Government Gazette:

Title:                The Bunbury-Harvey Regional Council Standing Orders Local Law 2017

Purpose:         This local law provides rules which apply to the conduct of meetings of the Council and its committees and all meetings are to be conducted in accordance with the Act, the Regulations and this local law.

The effect of this local law is to manage:

  • Better decision-making by the Council;
  • Orderly and efficient conduct of meeting dealing with Council business;
  • Greater community participation and understanding of the business of the Council; and
  • More open and accountable local government.

In accordance with s3.14(1) of the Local Government Act 1995, the Standing Orders Local Law 2017 will come into operation on the 14th day after the day of publication in the WA Government Gazette which will commence on Wednesday 24 May 2017. A copy of the new law may be inspected at or obtained from the Council Administration Office Lot 5 Carmody Place, Next to City of Bunbury Visitor Centre, Bunbury WA 6230 between the hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday; or by downloading and viewing the document HERE: Standing Orders Local Law 2017

Organic Certification for BHRC Compost!

In early 2017 Bunbury Harvey Regional Council successfully achieved Organic Certification of the compost produced at the Banksia Road Compost Facility. This is a huge achievement for BHRC, its staff and the general public who have embraced the use of their third organics bin. Well done to all!
